Cool, thanks BA. Let us know what you hear.

As we've discussed before, I agree with you about Facebook and the effect that "social networking" sites like that have on discussion forums (fora?). I still refuse to join Facebook (not just for that reason), but as I said I did join Twitter... it occurred to me that the two have almost nothing in common, despite the fact that they often get mentioned together. I essentially use Twitter as a bunch of news feeds that I can quickly get caught up on on my smartphone.

As far as Helmet goes, maybe the forum is just slow because there's not much going on right now Helmet-wise, and we've already talked about everything we can think of... haha.

So Dan just tweeted that "Good things are in the works"... interesting (but vague, haha).

Yes, I do sometimes wonder if we've just talked ourselves out, and there's no way I'm going to start trying to seed discussion of ever more obscure and tenuously Helmet related topics. "What's your favourite cymbal sound on a post-1994 recording by a band that played 3 or more dates with Helmet between 1992 and 1998?" …

Anyway, clearly Dan's reading, then…

EDIT: Oh, and yes, fora.

Yes, good point on not going out of your way trying to start new discussions on increasingly obscure topics. And regarding fora, that is a plural form of forums... but I also found Wikipedia saying this: "The English plural forums is preferred to the Latin plural fora in normal English usage." http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fora

Anyway, interesting about that tweet and what the developments behind it are... as well as anything Page shares with you.

"...normal English usage". Doesn't say anything about smart-arse English usage.

It bugs me to see inactivity amongst a loyal few, but I guess you can only cover so much associated with the band without feeling overly obsessed.

I'm reminded of the fact that you got to hang out with Page during a Euro tour, BA. Did that ever get discussed thoroughly? I mean did your Helmet-freak peers get every ounce of Page potpourri from you about that experience? I don't recall much other than saying he's pretty disciplined with his practice and....uh, that's all I remember. I'd think you'd want to take advantage of asking a few other personal (music, life, hobbies, arts, food) questions. Did you hang out with the other fellas? I guess Dan & Dave weren't on board then.

LandIt - good question. I also remember BA talking about doing that (and sharing pics from that tour), but I don't recall many of the details.

You should see the DVD. He keeps a book to record his practice. That someone of Page's caliber is still that disciplined...I had to stop the DVD and weep a little thinking about my wasted lazy life.

Yep, I own that DVD and realize that is a impressively productive side of Page's life. If only we had the time, patience and discipline to be a pro like PH.

I guess not, but then I hate sounding like that guy. You know that "oh, yeah, this one time I met Ozzy in Vegas" type? Anyway. I actually hung out with a few iterations of the band: I spent a couple days in London and Manchester with the Size Matters line-up (Traynor, Tempesta, Bello), then had a good drinking session in London a year or so after that when Jeremy Chatelaine had stepped in. Then there's the 2 shows in NYC and one in Seattle I hung out at. The former was with Trug standing in on guitar, and I watched the show with Chris T, so I had the unusual experience of a running commentary of what was going wrong from a band member.... the Seattle one I met Page's sister and some other family, and I regret that I was really quite drunk and probably made a poor impression.

And then, yes, the European tour, which was just over a week a think, and that was with the Dan, Jon, Kyle line-up. I did hang out with the other guys a fair bit. I used to get on great with Chris T back in the day, and on the Euro tour I spent a fair bit of time doing the tourist thing with... well, all of them, really. But, yeah, Page works hard... but I'll tell you this, I think that reputation overshadows a little. He has a lot of fun, too.

Aaaaanyway..... did I ever tell you about the time I met Dave Mustaine in a Kebab shop in Lewisham?

Very cool, BA. Is the photo album from that European tour still up somewhere? I think you had it up with accompanying notes, etc. And wasn't the cover pic on the DVD taken by you on that tour?

Starts about halfway down this page, and there's more on page 4, too. Some tourist shit mixed in of the churches and stuff we checked out in Germany.

Oh, the Mustaine thing was before cameras were invented, but I was there, man. We did some blow and... yeah, I'll have a drink if you're buyin'.
