Muse - Boston

Postby zoofly » Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:09 am

Caught the Brit-prog-Rock trio in Boston last weekend. Good time. If anyones not to familiar, youre not alone. they have a bit of a cult status here in the States but in England they can sell out stadiums.

Great live show, they have some killer lighting effects and the music at times has some great riff moments to bang your head along to and jump around. Thing is, this feels pakaged ready 'arena rock'. Not in a bad way, but its like this 7,000 seat sports arena seems too small for it. (they just came off a show in MSG - more than twice as large)

I almost feel like there the 21st century Bon Jovi. WIthout the hair. And the bad clothes....yet we all know the words to "Livin' On A Prayer".

Maybe I shouldnt admit that even if it is true....

I was interested until you went and said that.

Go ahead. You've already admitted to the U2 thing.

Haha. What I was trying , so ineffectively, to say was that this band does everything in grand gestures. Big songs, big stage show all without the big hair and big cheese.

Pimp, if ever you do get the chance to see them, you wont go home disappointed at all.

I'd really like to see the Muse, man! Overall good tunes even if they verge on the epic or grand or somewhat theatric. I'd would say their the type of band that has something for everybody...melancholy, stirring ballads to displays of pummeling rock riffs, the latter style being more interesting to me. I dig Hysteria and Assassins from the new album. Bombastic!!

Not at all a Bon Jovi. But I know you've learned your lesson, Zoo.
