Torche (Torche MySpace) played a great set, and they enjoyed themselves big time, much better than the last time I saw them. The 2nd guitar was not missed in the live setting, and the band was really tight. Often only known for their slow and sludgy side they showed they can also play fast and furious.
Kylesa (Kylesa MySpace) headlined, and the sound became a bit more muddy, partially attributed to the addition of a 2nd guitar and the full 2nd drumset to the PA sound...anyway, after the more straight riff oriented rock of Torche, the more doomy and sometimes even prog-rock like songs were less accessible, at least to someone who is unfamiliar with their output. It was a pleasure to watch and I don't mean just their guitarist Laura. She's a phenomenon, I have no clue how she can outscream her fellow frontmen...including growls that make your toenails curl up. With excitement, let me add that. I found a good picture of her rocking:

I would have included pictures of her bandmates too, but they are just not half as sightly...sorry guys. They played a good mixture from their last album and older stuff, one of the encores was Pink Floyd's Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun.
Anyway, a great evening and a great band combination, go see them if you have the chance.
