Deftones - Adelaide (1st March 2007)

Not exact order. Tried to remember off of top of head

1. BQAD
2. My Own Summer
3. Lhabia
4. Root
5. Beware the Water
6. Knife Party
7. Around the Fur
8. Nosebleed
9. Engine no. 9
10. Feiticera
11. Hole in the Earth
12. Passenger
13. Xerces
14. Cherry Waves
15. Bored
16. No Ordinary Love
17. Rats, Rats, Rats!!!

Encore
18. Back to school
19. Change
20. 7 Words

I got to Thebarton theatre just befor the band Thrice played. I'd never heard of them before but the crowd was into it and they did a good job of warming up for the Deftones. Not really what I like though but still, I have to give them credit for their show.

Deftones were amazing from start to finish. I was worried that I might not see a great show as I've seen and heard bootlegs were Chino just can't sing or the mix has been terrible but there were absolutely no problems with the Musicianship. Steph Chugged away the brutal chords, Chino soothingly sang, shrieked and screamed all night. Abe didn't miss a beat and Chi was locked in with Abe. A very long setlist as well which suprised me and the song selection suprised me as well ("Back to School" did as it has been stated that Chino hates this song) although I was a bit sad about them not playing any songs from their 2003 Self Titled album (Which is easily my personal favourite). But all in all, an outstanding show and the best I've seen (Untill Helmet of course lol) in about 2.5 years

Absolutely Brutal!
9/10

That is wierd that they played Back To School. Everytime someone mentions that song in an interview Chino get's this pissed off look on his face. I've heard a lot of bad about Deftones shows aswell. Mainly that Chino just stands there through the whole set now. I can't wait to see Deftones. Don't know when I'll be able to though.

DEFTONES I want my 77.00 back

Postby darko@totalgeek » Wed Mar 14, 2007 1:07 pm

I must have been at another show that night.

First of all I must admit that I'm not a huge fan, but could have been swayed either way based on what I was to experience on the night.

After waiting all day in anticipation and expecting a full on onslaught, instead I was ready for the door after the first 4 tracks.

The audio mix was by far the worst I've heard of any concert and I do mean ANY concert I've been to in the last 10 years!

The vocal effects dominated the mix, and was inaudiable most of the time. The snare drum sounded like it wasn't mic-ed and overall the skills of the drummer showed little or no reference to the work on the albums.

After paying 77.00 for the ticket, I feel like I was robbed!

I don't know if I was expecting more than if I had only paid 30.00 bucks for the ticket, but what was being sold on the night was far from 77.00 of entertaiment.

I went with a mate who is a die hard fan and who talked me out of my 77.00, and even he said that the show got a
D for D I S A P O I N T M E N T !

THANK GOD HELMET ARE COMING TO SHOW 'EM HOW IT'S DONE!

hmmm... I was in the front/middle of the pit so I guess that could've swayed my opinion although I left the pit and hung out the back for "Change" and "7 Words" and I thought "Change" sounded a bit muddy at times, but "7 Words" was great.

There were a few times during a few songs though where I couldn't really hear Abe's Drumkit that well, so I can't tell if he played as well as should.

Even though I still thought it was a good show I do agree with you that Helmet will fucking slay the Deftones :D

I saw them in Melbourne and they played a lot better than I expected based on bootlegs I've heard lately, they were really good.

Chino fucked up passenger AGAIN though, he can't get Maynards high notes. Sure it's a crowd favourite but there are plenty of other favourites you could play that he could deliver heaps better.

Spewing they didn't play Headup.

Apart from Passenger, it's two thumbs up from me.

abe is an awesome drummer....it must have either been a mix problem....or he was off his chops or something...

The sound was shocking but look at the venue.
Festival Hall. It was a boxing ring.
Even Placebo was murky/drowned out and they are rather somber.
