Wolfmother - Hartford CT, 4-28

Caught the psychedelic power rock trio last night. They might actually have a sound more appealing to the visitors on the forum here.

Sounded good, and with just drums, a crunchy fuzz guitar and bass/ keyboards they keep it simple. Some of the riffs get a little old and you feel like you fell into a black hole that spit you out in 1969, but it was still fun.

They played a couple new songs and almost their entire first album it seemed. I think they overcharged for admission though, $25, even for a 'hot at the moment' band seemed like a lot. 'Joker & The Thief' and 'Woman' were the standouts.

Also, these guys being from Australia and so many Aussie Helmet fans here, how are they coming across back there at home?

Haha, that Patton vid is great. But still, no one from Australia answered my question basically asking "Whats the big deal about these guys?"

They did put on a decent show and many a 70's burnout was in the crowd soaking it up. its not for everyone, certainly.

Should I dare put up last nights Godsmack show review? Ha.

hahahahahaha....well i cant speak for everyone but if they are into helmet im pretty sure that they WONT be into wolfmother...the reason being is that they have been flogged to death over the past 1 1/2 to 2 years...and they dont have an original sound...sounds like they are ripping off Led Zep and Sabbath etc...and i think that grates on people alot...in answer to your question...i dont know why...they are just a hype band with catchy songs...
