I feel guilty for agreeing with this...I listened to the album at work on the public stereo and all the time expected someone to flip off and turn the shit off :D I don't WANT to feel that way but I did. The long, nasal parts in the vocals are the worst for me...think In Person chorus. It's the total opposite to the barking of Strap It On. I kind of understand how the barking thing may now feel like a bad idea turned to recorded vocals for Page and feels his stuff nowadays is more "professional".

To us fans the barking thing is a bad idea turned to something genius and it fucking rocks

The circle is now complete. My CD arrived today.

Good Lord! I've been out of the loop about where the package was...I had ASS U MED it would arrive with the delayed vinyl, thus, the delay on the CD and USBs as well. But reading the lot here, sounds like it was a fubar on distribution. Glad someone received their package. It's giving me hope. I had just emailed Topspin but it sounds like hopefully, we'll get our stuff soon.

By the way, has anyone gone to a gig yet and use their laminate? I'm heading to the Anaheim show this weekend. Would hate to be told "sorry, you're not coming in" boot.

And I looked for a song list here, but don't see one yet. What are they playing? New shirts?!

Went to the show in Tempe, AZ last night. The band was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Great set list, they even played Rude. Page was taking request from the audience. The laminate worked great, the club cross checked our name on the list and the band members were very enthusiastic about having us. After the show of course they stuck around and chatted with everyone like the great guys they are. We then went back to the dressing room, had a beer and hung out for about an hour with everyone. Awesome night, can't wait to see them again in Tucson. Below is a link to a Youtube video I shot with my Iphone of Page playing the Swallowing Everything solo.

Awesome! Hung out for a while eh? It's good to know. Thanks for posting so promptly! Can't wait for tonight. I might try to go to the San Diego show but have to leave town and going to miss out on the Redondo show. But I'll be at the NM show, if anyone here is going.

It's funny you mention In Person. I was actually thinking the same thing. That song is painful to listen to. Page holding the notes at the end of each line is excruciating (threateniiiiiiiing, actiiiiiiing, feeeeeeeeeeeeeel, wheeeeeeel etc). Not that he was ever a good singer but his growl and snarl and random agrro yells WORKED. I think he belived whomever told him he's a better singer now.

I pretty sure this is true, but can anyone confirm that Page's favorite NFL team is the San Francisco 49ers? And what is the first "official" year that Helmet was founded? One that Page would consider to be right?? Thanks if anyone knows this stuff!

Don't know if this has already been posted, but this seems to the most heavily used thread lately. Great live footage of them in Italy. There are 8 parts.

I really, really like this album...it is probably my favorite since Betty...although I have enjoyed each release from the different incarnations of the band...Morphing + And Your Bird Can Sing fit in just fine IMHO...but I respect and appreciate everyone's interpretation of the album and look forward to show reviews as well...will be taking my wife to her first Helmet show when they play Fort Collins in about two weeks...Melvins and Helmet within the span of three days; very nice... :D

The merch they had was three shirts all $15: Helmet logo, Seeing Eye Dog Tour with dates on back and Helmet logo with the girl in an ejection seat (that the one I got). Also had a hoodie (don't remember the price) and a mesh trucker hat for $15, and Seeing Eye Dog CD's

As far as Page and the 49er's, they are his football team, he was talking about them last night, saying how much a sports fan he is.

Thanks again. Wanted to be prepared $$$-wise to pick up stuff. I think the CD is good. I like it better than Monochrome and Size Matters, but Aftertaste rocked my world...I've run so many miles with it. Betty is a solid second, but wasn't as good a choice to run with. Not to say I base my judgements on what motivates me when running, but Betty and Aftertaste are waaay solid. SED is pretty tight. Keeps me motivated at the office.

After putting more time into listening to SED, I appreciate it more than 98.6% of the alternative....besides my pre-stocked music library, of course.

I don't feel like making excuses for not completely agreeing with some of the stuff there, because I think time will tell how well this album will add to the HELMET catalog

It's too short would be my only complaint- and there isn't any barking

hold on
something I should comment on
just the fact that playing live makes for a better experience, I'm not sure if I could get a circle going if I was standing there while "Welcome to Algiers" was read off the playlist....not saying the song is bland, or anything...just easier to hear off the floor

Yup, I bought it at a show in '94 or '95 on the Betty tour; they were playing with Sausage and The Rollins Band.

Ruoska wrote:I saw SED at FYE for $14.99 (+tax...why is it not included on the stickered price the US is beyond me).

It's because sales tax in the US is determined by the state, and counties can also add additional tax on top of it... so it can vary some from place to place.
