Vans Warped Tour 06

Postby lamb_of_gods » Sat Sep 11, 2010 12:45 am

After years of touring, with a many high quailty recording, they release this as a live cd :| :| :?:
A 35 min set recored hungover at a shitty music festival.
Will the tracklisting be correct on the cd printing or is Birth Defect the new Role Model.
Listen to Iron head from 1m50s

I saw them at that tour and agreed, they were pretty sucky. Is the recording at least with the drummer from Monochrome or the fill-in from The Bled?

My thoughts exactly... why this performance from the silly Warped Tour, out of all the options? I can see wanting something from Helmet 2.0 of course, since this is Helmet 2.0... but in that case why not one of the great performances by this current line-up?

And yes, I also hope it is at least with Mike Jost (Monochrome drummer), and not the fill-in from The Bled... he did a great job butchering the drum parts on some of the songs by trying to add his own touch to them. I don't recall at what point in the tour it was that Mike Jost left the tour due to his child being born.

Any show from the winter of 2009 European tour would have ruled as the official primary bonus CD. From all the bootlegs I've heard, the line-up really kicked some major ass. And "best of" -type setlists too.

Also the Australian shows from spring 2008 ain't bad at all. I think Ruoska will agree with me on that one  Would have been nice to hear one of those special set-lists with one whole classic album played.

So why this show from the Warped Tour 06? I'm asking the same question all of you are asking too.
In the meantime, Betty...strap it on. Size matters.

On the USB stick there will be 4 more shows, incl. wInter '09:

# Live in Budapest, Hungary - July 1, 2008
# Live in Angouleme, France - Feb 8, 2009
# Live in Detroit, MI - Aug 29, 2007
# Live at The Grasspop Festival in Dessel Belgium - June 28, 2008

Not sure why they didn't take one of these...maybe the sound quality is not that great. Or a US Vans Warped Tour show draws more attention.

Unfortunately, I think it is probably along these lines.

I received my CD's last night and just listened to the live disc (I didn't bother to get the live album from the MP3 download e-mail the way I did for SED). This sounds like Mike Jost on drums, not the fill-in from The Bled we mentioned above; so that's good anyway. And yes, the disc does say "Role Model" on it instead of "Birth Defect".

I suppose any of the early 2009 shows would've kicked ass. The one in Finland did for sure (and they played I Know and Bad Mood:).

This Warped show sounds a lot like it was recorded on a video camera somewhere a bit above the audience while the camera is moving around on a crane or something. The sound seems to "swim around" somewhat every now and then if you listen to it on any decent headphones. The highest frequencies come and go and sometimes everything shifts a bit to either side. Or maybe it's done from the audience so people sometimes block the mic a bit to mess the stereo image up.

Limited sound check or something, in the beginning of FBLA the mixing engineer suddenly turns the snare up significantly? Also what the heck is up with that burp around 1:53 in Ironhead? Wonder what was going on in Page's head at the moment :D Maybe he just wanted to gurgle something in the mic and thought this was the appropriate time for some of that :D

my feeling is that a lot of the vocals on the live disc were really harsh, maybe it was the fact that Page was a little hung over! overall not bad but i thought Ouch! especially Tic.
When your Born Annoying the Tic begins, tell me if you think its alright and oh yeah... where the hell does that manner end! HELMET of course!

Yes, Page mentions that he is drinking water because he had drinks the night before. But in addition to that, this was a morning set... not sure how early in the morning, but "morning" period is not the right time of day to be playing rock music, much less trying to perform rock vocals.

It just struck me... not only are there many other shows that would have been a better choice for a live disc, but what would have been even better would have been a live DVD instead of a CD. Other bands have included those, and there was talk a long time ago about a potential official live DVD.

I was thinking the exact same thing. That would have been great. Anyway, I hope the official live DVD will come one day. It's about time.
And so far I still have not listened to any show on the USB stick. For some reason I want to wait until next week to see them live. Twice, actually.

I read that when they played at this show the other guys went and woke Page up and he a cigarette and bananna cocktail before the show. About that gurgle noise in ironhead he was doing that a couple of years he did it in the rock am ring 2005 show aswell.
