So as I've said before, I am really liking the new album... pretty much every song on it is great in my opinion. But I wanted to talk a little more about the final track on it and see what others think.
To me, She's Lost is incredible. From the weird guitar chugging opening, through the melodic verses, choruses, and bridges, into the three different guitar solo sections, this song is just awesome. I love how the line "true love waits, or maybe only suffocates" leads into the first solo, while "love and hate, any way you suffocate" leads into the second solo... and just a period of guitar noise, then silence, leads into the third solo. The riff behind the solos is incredible, and the solos themselves are just scorching. It's also cool how the solo in each of those sections seems to pick up where it left off at the end of the previous solo section. The guitars playing the riff as an intro to kick off the third solo make it even better... I believe Page's ESP is on the left, while Dan's Les Paul is on the right. That third solo section is played with even more volume/distortion and energy than the prior two.
It's great how the whole song pulls no punches, and makes no apologies for how long it is and how fully it explores its theme and also its role as the closing track of the album.
