Berlin SO36, 3/23/12

Right guys - Helmet spring tour tru Western Europe, Berlin right in the middle of tour, chance to stay 3 days in the city - Page and folks were enjoying the sun, the chicks and everything.
Anyway, Friday night they had to work out their asses in stinking Kreuzberg, SO36 location. A tour bus with czech license plates was parking in front of SO36 surrounded by Kebab and Pizza Restaurants.
SO36 was packed, let's say 800 were in the crowd when the guys entered the stage at 10pm. But before roadies prepared sound and equipment. Chief roadie is some strange bearded guy who looked like the Otzi, running around all the time with his head light on. Page introduced him when he presented the line up: Beardo obviously is from Northern Ireland, strange since Ireland is not in the Alps. Anyway Paddy "Beardo" Otzi did fine all the time, kicked divers from stage, changed bottles and towels - had a belated St. Patrick's Day! On their last gig in Berlin November 2010 Ravi Shankar the Indian sitar wizard assisted and bodyguarded Page, but Ravi got replaced by Beardo.
Page started with a stiff upper lip, not saying much, announced the 10 Meantime songs - they played in from last to first song, gave some details about a night in Vienna, where his bassplayer (playing a green bass!) - I call him kid rock - tried to lick his a**, Page used some fine german words even the Polish guys next to me knew.
They left the stage after 13 songs at about 11, came back for 7 or 8 more. Quite some dancers and divers around, luckily for Page he wasn't kicked in the teeth by the divers, since Paddy Beardo did a great job kicking divers in the a** - Page said he forgot the take his dentist to the tour, the chap still is in Oregon.

After the show the guys took time to chat with the crowd - the drummer, guitar kid from Minnesota and kid rock green bass from NY and Page of course, while Paddy Beardo Otzi dismantled the equipment with his head light on. Thanx to be back in Berlin, take care folks.

Yeah, excellent. Slightly different setlist in Hamburg two days later. But the same people, obviously.
