Does anyone have more info on the cover of Monochrome? Who did it, what does it mean, etc.

Thanks!

As far as I know, most of their album art is from stock photograph catalogues and so probably doesn't have that much significance beyond any obvious correlations (e.g. girl with magnifying glass for Size Matters).

It's probably pointless posting this so long after you asked the question but I just came across something in an interview Page had with Ultimate Guitar (keep in mind that this interview is riddled with typos):

"That’s pilot in a jet and it’s just about to eject. He has a pull over his face to keep broken glass from shattering his skin and eyes. It is a photograph from a survival manual from the 50s. I though it was a beautiful photo and it has a lot of different meanings for me. Preparing to eject yourself from whatever it is – there’s real danger. There’s a guy on the back cover with a flare. All those images came from the same book."

Here's the link to the interview if you want to check it out; it was posted on the main interview thread on the forum: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/intervie ... music.html

Thanks for the background information. Cover-art-wise Helmet unfortunately was always quite weak, in my opinion. Betty stands out, and also Monochrome is kind of cool, but the rest...well, it seems to me that Page does not care a lot about the visuals. Is that why there is no DVD release still? (although I read there is hope? Any news?)

The Meantime and Aftertaste covers are my favorite at the moment because they both can relate to the album's content. The Meantime steel mill worker sums up the heavy, relentless music, and the three guys on the Aftertaste album represent, well, the fact that the album was recorded with the band as a trio.
