She's Lost

Postby eht13 » Thu Sep 30, 2010 3:12 pm

So as I've said before, I am really liking the new album... pretty much every song on it is great in my opinion. But I wanted to talk a little more about the final track on it and see what others think.

To me, She's Lost is incredible. From the weird guitar chugging opening, through the melodic verses, choruses, and bridges, into the three different guitar solo sections, this song is just awesome. I love how the line "true love waits, or maybe only suffocates" leads into the first solo, while "love and hate, any way you suffocate" leads into the second solo... and just a period of guitar noise, then silence, leads into the third solo. The riff behind the solos is incredible, and the solos themselves are just scorching. It's also cool how the solo in each of those sections seems to pick up where it left off at the end of the previous solo section. The guitars playing the riff as an intro to kick off the third solo make it even better... I believe Page's ESP is on the left, while Dan's Les Paul is on the right. That third solo section is played with even more volume/distortion and energy than the prior two.

It's great how the whole song pulls no punches, and makes no apologies for how long it is and how fully it explores its theme and also its role as the closing track of the album.

I think that this song is probably the best one on the album at displaying Pages' vocal.

and I completely agree with you, eht13.......they nailed it. The sound that they put on this one definitely tops the previous two albums. It's different in style, but the composition they put on it is so much more compelling.

You're right, "She's lost" is a special song and one of the best Helmet-rhythm-monster ever. What a final disaster ...

They soundchecked with "She's Lost" (the whole thing) last night in West Chester, PA. It was fuckin' sweet. Didn't play it in the set though.

I just joined. And I have to saw I'm quite happy to see other lovers of "She's Lost". Killer track.

I also recently caught a video of it on youtube. Was a little disappointed since the guitar noise in the start of the track was not played, Page and Dan just played the rythm as is on the track.

My eardrums had an orgasm when I heard this song for the fist time. This song is now on my top 10 Helmet songs.

Yeah I wasn't expecting much from this album but a fantastic example of how good it is. Different, more melodic but really great. Love the verses. I'm not a lyrics/poetic person but the lyrics are really nice too
i'm not making sense, just ignore me...
