Wow I liked almost all of those on first listen! The Beatles remake sounds pretty cool actually. And I like that the album ends with a 6 minute song that's awesome..

I hate to be that guy, but which one is The Beatles song?
I never really dig on the beatles, so I guess my knowledge of their catalog is lacking at best.

Based on these samples, I'm really liking all the songs on here, with the possible exception of Morphing. I only say except that one because it sounds like it needs more than this sample length to know what it's all about and to let it sink in more, so it's hard to tell if it will be good or not. But the rest sound great.

I noticed that the sample from the live part that says it's for Role Model is actually Birth Defect... so that was a bit disappointing. I assume the real disc will not be mislabeled, so I wonder if there are more tracks on there than the samples Amazon has, and Amazon just got mixed up. Also noticed that Amazon is charging more for the CD version of this than this site is, so that's good news for those of us that already pre-ordered the CD package here.

The Page Hamilton Experiment : Seeing Eye Dog

No..............................................from the samples this isn't sounding promising.

I must say I TOTALLY disagree with you. These new tracks sound way more promising and thought-out than Size Matters and especially Monochrome. In a way this is as produced as Size Matters but sounds more inspired and just rocks more freely. And the album sounds better than both SM and Mono. There's a lot more diversity and dynamics in SED, not unlike Betty (yeah, I pull this "comparison" again). To me it feels like there's a nice sense of humor and freedom in SED. Like the title track, Page could be taking the piss on, say, Fred Durst, but to me it sounds more like self-parody in a rough kind of way, haha. And LA Water, what a bright and sunny track but with a dark sarcasm to it. All in all, in my opinion SED sounds way more INTERESTING than both SM and Mono combined.
In the meantime, Betty - strap it on.

After listening to the first 3 samples we got I wasn´t convinced at all. Then came the title track in full length and it turned out to be cool enough apart from the vocals. Now I´ve heard all the samples a couple of times and I´m happy to hear the vocals on SED are not reminiscent of the entire record. The songs seem to be catchy and more melodic than usual....kind of aftertastish feeling to it. I´m up for it.

I really like Welcome to Algiers. It has a very cool Aftertaste vibe. The rest seems average or really bad. The Beatles cover and Morphing are filler. My opinion might change after I get the actual record but I don't see myself really loving it.

I couldn't disagree more about SM. I listened to it the other day after not listening to it for a year or maybe even more and it's a solid record. There are 2-3 songs in the middle that kind of drag but I don't skip them. Also, song structures alone when you break them down, seem more solid and unique on SM than what I can hear in these samples. I do agree though about Monochrome being weak. It has two great songs (Swallowing + Gone) the rest is sort of there.

I agree that SM is a very solid album that only gets slow* in the middle... but I still think SED will be better than SM or Monochrome.

*Very slow, IMO. I do have to skip a couple of those songs most times I listen to it.

Jesus , how you can judge whole album base on samples ??? and saying it is better than this or worst than this ??? I don't know about you guys but when I'm listing to the music I'm listing every song from the beginning to the end , then I can say that I like it or not ...Anyway , Page played me whole album from his Ipod around 2 months ago , and I must say that it is better that I excepted . Of course most of the people is going to say that "Betty " is the best album etc , yes it is great album but you have to accept the fact that it's past .

It's like tasting food. It only takes a bite or two to know if you're repulsed.

Well I'm liking this stuff. One thing I think I can tell from these short clips is that the band had fun doing this record. The two full songs I've heard and the eight other clips have a real sense of moving forward, not trying to recapture past glories. In fact it's almost the least 'Helmet' sounding Helmet record. That's not a bad thing. I'd much rather hear Page try new stuff, after all that's what happened with the first four records, they're pretty diverse when you think about it.

But of course when you do that, some people won't like it. Which is fine too. Maybe the next record will be more to other people's tastes, just like I enjoyed SM and Monochrome, but I didn't love them. I think/hope they're about to come out with a record that I will love. The solo on SED is the best one since probably Speechless, even better than Brand New.

I'm really excited about Morphing, it sounds like it could be on Low by Bowie. LA Water was making me think of that era Bowie too.
