Helmet was formed in New York City in 1989 by founding members Page Hamilton, Henry Bogdan, Peter Mengede and John Stanier. The group signed to Amphetamine Reptile Records, and released their first full-length album, Strap It On, in 1991. Interscope Records soon came calling and signed the band in 1992. Read more
Helmet in Spin Magazine’s 10 Best Moments at Rock on the Range

Spin Magazine lists Helmet, along with Deftones, Rob Zombie and Slash, in their ten best moments of the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH last weekend.
“Compared to the ballyhoo delivered by other groups at Rock on the Range (garish make-up, pyrotechnics, crazy costumes, Papa Roach pointing out its helicopter circling above the crowd), Helmet’s set at the small Jägermeister Stage was workmanlike…they were focused on playing out toasty alt-metal riffs as powerfully as possible instead of amusing their audience.”
