Page Hamilton
Biography
The founding member and singer/songwriter/guitarist of the highly influential hard rock band HELMET.
Founded in 1989, HELMET’s debut album “STRAP IT ON” was released in 1990 on the independent label Amphetamine Reptile. Helmet thereafter signed with Interscope Records and in 1992 released the groundbreaking gold album “MEANTIME.” The group’s follow up to “Meantime,” “BETTY” was released in 1994 to worldwide critical acclaim and showed a diversity of influences not heard on previous Helmet albums. The fourth Helmet album “AFTERTASTE” was released in 1997 on Interscope again to great critical acclaim and, after having toured around the album for a year, the band parted ways in January 1998.
In 2004 Page re-signed with Interscope Records and reformed Helmet with new members to write, produce and record the fifth album “SIZE MATTERS.” Opting to retain ownership of his music, Page licensed the next Helmet CD “MONOCHROME” to Warcon in 2006, and the band performed as a headlining act on The Warped Tour. After touring the United States and Europe extensively in 2009, Page wrote, produced and recorded the sixth Helmet album, to be released in early 2010.
Prior to forming Helmet, Page Hamilton played in The Band Of Susans on the Love Agenda album and also worked with Glenn Branca on his symphony number six.
In addition to his work with Helmet, Page played guitar on a number of tracks from the Joe Henry album “Trampoline.” Page also played guitar and sang on 3 tracks from the Ben Neill album “Goldbug,” and has performed several times with Ben Neill’s Meld. In 1999 Page played lead guitar for David Bowie in the studio, and for live promotional dates around David Bowie’s album “Hours.”
