Hip Hop. No.....come back

Postby WakeUpCold » Thu Apr 22, 2010 4:14 pm

I'm not into the unimaginative gangster stuff, but I thought I'd share a little of the hip hop / rap that I do enjoy and see what you guys think...

I also recommend his Bombzo Way character and his "open letter to Justin Timberlake".

Buck 65
Now, if I'm not mistaken, I'm not the only Buck 65 fan here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wyyVh3uc5Y

Sage Francis

I love Buck 65, guy's a bit of a genius. There's some really great live videos of him totally solo in Brighton on the BBC website that I watch occasionally. He does a great piece on Pythagorus and his fear of beans. Weirdly brilliant.

Sage is cool, but I don't like his stuff as much as I used to. The other two you reference don't do it for me I'm afraid.

There's tons of good non-gangster-bullshit hip hop and similar. I love Soul Coughing, Dj Format with Abdominal and D-Sisive, Aesop Rock, Dr Octagon, Deltron... there's so much.

BlakRoc is a pretty good collab between the Black Keys and some famous MCs

That Black Keys stuff should be better than it is. It's good, don't get me wrong, but I think that could've been so much more.

I agree. It'll always be an interesting side project for their careers, but nothing ground breaking.
